Carol J. Novak, 86, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30th at The Addison in Pleasant Prairie.

Born on August 12, 1932, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Wilma (Berkercher) Gahart.

On July 5, 1980, she married Chester Novak. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1994.

Carol worked for many years as a waitress at Andy’s restaurant.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was very involved with her church. She volunteered for the Special Olympics. She enjoyed being outside, playing cards, meeting at McDonalds every morning with her friends, traveling, especially to Door County in the fall to see the leaves change. Most of all she enjoyed being a grandma and great-grandmother.

Carol is survived by her three children, Kim Myers of Kenosha, Pam Aiello of Delavan, and Paula Markin of Kenosha; five grandchildren, Gina and Nicholas Aiello and James, Raymond and Ashley Markin; and three great grandchildren, Zoey, Landon and Jaydee Aiello.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sister, Joyce Schaefer; two brothers, Lloyd and David Gahart; and son-in-law, John Markin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6th at Proko Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Kindred Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated by the family.

Our deepest sympathies to your family. Carol was a very dear friend and companion to my father, following the passing of my mom in 1994. She and our dad Larry shared many great times and a love for one another that was very special. My siblings and I remain very thankful for the companionship that Carol brought to him prior to his passing in 2008. So thankful for the many good times we all shared, and for Carol's special brand of love. Rene' and I will miss you. May God bring you the "peace that surpasses all understanding" as you await the incredible reunion that awaits all of us who trust in His Promises. All our love, Rene' and Rick Munz

Carol was a very good mother-in-law to me; we got along well and shared many great memories. The Christmas and birthday parties stand out the most. She will always be loved and truly missed.

I’m very sorry to read the passing of your beloved Carol. Please accept my sincere condolences. I have personally felt comforted by the promise made by God of bringing back to life those who sleep in death (1 Thes. 4:14). So be assured that you’ll be able to hug, kiss and talk to Carol again. She will come back into an Earth free of suffering, sickness and anything that causes us to shed tears of pain (Rev. 21:4). This hope is both sure and firm because Jehovah God cannot lie (Heb. 6:18; Titus 1:2). Is my sincere desire that you can also find comfort in this words during this difficult time for you.
