Obituary for Alexander "Alex" Legler, Sr.

Alexander "Alex"  Legler, Sr.
Alex was called home by his Heavenly Father on January 4, 2011, at Brookdale Sterling House in Somers.
He was born on May 10, 1927, in Colgate, WI, to the late John and Molly (Wagner) Legler. He moved to Bristol as a child with his family.
He served in the United States Army as an Infantry Tech-5 in Little Rock, AR, and Austria from 1945 until 1947 and was honorably discharged.
On September 4, 1948, he was united in marriage to Lois I. Bloedel. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1966. On July 15, 1967, he married Louise J. Hill; she also preceded him in death.
Alex was employed at Landgren Dairy, Kenosha Packing Co. and OMC.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and enjoyed his visits and devotions with Pastor Sievert.
As a young man his passions were working on cars, fishing, hunting, polka dancing and being with his family.
He will be deeply missed by his children and all who knew him.
Survivors include his son, Alex Jr. (Susan); his daughter, Cheryl Legler; a sister, Molly (Art) Adesko; seven step-sons; a step-daughter; and several step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Leah Legler and Emma Hoegsted; and five brothers, Ferdinand, Edward, Gustav, Victor and Albert.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Sterling House and Hospice Alliance for all their love and care.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 7th, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2100-75th Street, Kenosha, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at North Bristol Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials to Bethany Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family.
