Obituary for Bruce R. Blankley

Bruce R. Blankley, 59, of Kenosha, passed away Thursday (July 7th, 2005) at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa.
Born in Kenosha on May 17, 1946, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Irma (Rosing) Blankley, Sr. He attended Holy Rosary School and was a 1964 graduate of Kenosha High School. In 1969 he graduated from Gateway Technical College with a degree in welding.
He was in the United States Navy from August 10, 1965 until his honorable discharge December 9, 1968.
He had been employed by Jelco Bus Co. as a dispatcher, American Brass and retired from Kenosha Unified School District in 2001, after 25 years. He received the distinguished Service Award from the Kenosha Unified School District. He then worked part time as a lunchroom supervisor at Jeffrey School, where he was known as "Mr. Bruce".
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a former member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Bruce was Scout Master of Troop #440 and currently a committee member of Troop #440, and a Brotherhood Member "Order of the Arrow". He was extremely active in Scouting and received the Wood Badge in 1971, and the District Award of Merit. Bruce enjoyed camping, the outdoors, his pet dogs and working with children.
Surviving are four brothers, J. Thomas (Catherine) of Kenosha, Charles (Rose Dahlin) of Kenosha, Philip (Shirley) of Oak Lawn, IL, and Giles Blankley of Kenosha; and 16 nieces and nephews, Carrie, Jill, Jeff, Jerry, Paul, Tim, Tina, Eric, Anne, Jim, Shane, Casey, Alan, Susan, Sharon, Andy and Joe.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lynn Weiss and Lois Houk.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12th, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home.
