Joyce Irene Simo, 88, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5th at The Addison in Pleasant Prairie.
Born in Kenosha on February 12, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Walter Jacob and Irene (Henricksen) Johnson. She was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.
On June 25, 1949, she married Frank Simo at St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
She was a lifetime member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and the Christian Women Society. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening, traveling to visit family, accompanying her husband on business trips, and watching Jeopardy. She was an avid bird watcher. She was a great cook; her lasagna was unforgettable, and her kitchen was always open.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Frank of Kenosha; seven children, Tim (Karen) Simo of Placentia, CA, Gary (Debbie) Simo of Appleton, Frank (Lori) Simo of Warren, MI, Theresa (Ron) Bedal of Barrington, IL, Mary Beth Simo of Kenosha, Joe (Mary) Simo of Appleton, and Anne (Rick) Reinders of Whitefish Bay; twelve grandchildren, Andrew, Timothy, Michael, Matthew (Jessica), Katie, Paul, Emily, Lauren, Julia, Jenna, Richard and Charlie; and one great-grandchild, Wesley with another on the way. She is further survived by her brother, Jim (Sharon) Johnson of Kenosha, and many other special family and lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Don Johnson.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Addison and Hospice Alliance for the loving care given to Joyce for the past six months.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 12th, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance or the charity of one’s choice in Joyce’s name would be appreciated by the family.
