Vincenzo “Vince” Schiavi, 76, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019.

Born in Controguerra, Italy, on July 3, 1942, he was the son of the late Filippo and Nicolina (Imperiali) Schiavi.

On July 29, 1965, he married Maria Casalena in Italy. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2000.

Vince was a mason and was employed at Camosy Construction for over 30 years. He will be remembered for the many beautiful fireplaces he built, as well as his own home. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, going up north, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Phillip Schiavi, Gabriel (Joy) Schiavi, Rosemary (Jon Lipscomb) Schiavi, and Barbara Schiavi; a daughter-in-law, Rossella Schiavi; seven grandchildren, LiaMaria, Joseph, Matteo, Francesco, Priscilla, Nicole, and Olivia; two great-grandchildren, Toretto and Ashton; and two siblings, Luciano (Luciana) Schiavi and Giannina (Giannino) Moroni.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Schiavi, on September 2, 2018.

As per Vince’s request, private services were held.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Rockford Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.

It is with great sorrow that I am sending my condolences on your recent loss. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I and would like to share a scripture that has benefited me and many people in time of grief. God reassures us of something wonderful in the Bible at Acts 24:15. It says, "There is going to be a resurrection." Along with God's promise to us at Revelation 21:3, 4 of sorrow, death, and pain being done away with permanently.

It is my hope that this bit of information is of comfort to you. Please be sure to find further information regarding the resurrection at: JW.ORG

May God be with you.

To Gabriel, Joy, Phil, and the rest of the family,
All of us Vlasaks have so many wonderful memories of you and your Dad all coming up to Elroy to spend time hunting, watching the Blackhawks on TV downstairs, eating one of Patti’s “gourmet meals”😉, and sitting around drinking and talking. Your attempt to get away from the trials of the city, was our gain when we could share some enjoyable chatting time with any of your family. Your Dad was such a wonderful, and so respectful toward us, All our kids, who had the opportunity to meet your Dad, have wonderful memories of him too! Knowing Vince’s children turned out so amazingly means Vince and his wife were extremely successful in doing the greatest job God ever asks anyone to do. We grieve along with you! Much love to all of you!

To Phillip, Gabriel, Rosemary and Barbara, we will miss so many things about your father - his many years of being a kind and helpful neighbor, and all of the jokes and stories we shared during our ‘garden talks’. Please take comfort in knowing he was a valued and respected member of our community, and in how proud he was of his family. Love Maria Ceschin, and Chris, Laureen and Patryk Wawro
