Obituary for Steven William Zamora

Steven “Steve” W. Zamora, 71, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021, at Hospice Alliance Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, WI.

In the late 1960s, Steven W. Zamora arrived in Kenosha, WI with $5.00 in his pocket. He grew up in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah and suffered terrible heartaches as two of his older brothers and his father all passed away within a short period of time. He arrived in Kenosha, WI to join his sister and her family and to start a new life.

Prior to his arrival in Kenosha, Steve received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Air Force. He was driven, wicked smart, resilient, hard-working and hungry for a different life. All of these traits allowed him to build himself up to becoming a successful businessman. After little formal education beyond high school, Steve worked hard to establish himself. He served as a design engineer for Unico (Franksville) and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for KGA Engineering (Chicago). He eventually established and grew his own electrical manufacturer's representative business in 1985, which was appropriately named Steven W. Zamora Co. Inc.

Steve also co-owned DelCo Energy Services and served as a managing partner of Bristol Oaks Country Club in addition to numerous other real estate development projects in the Kenosha area.

In his young years, Steve coached youth wrestling and enjoyed playing competitive softball. He loved playing and watching all sports, in particular golf. Steve was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

Steve was a generous person who was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He was once quoted by the Kenosha News as saying, "I want to succeed in this society, to feel good about myself. And I enjoy taking people with talent and helping them recognize it -- like people did for me."

Steve is survived by his children, Joya (Greg) Santarelli and Daniel Zamora; former spouse, Joya DelConte-Zamora; grandchildren Rocky and Valentino Santarelli and Angelina Zamora; siblings, Dorothy Senteri and John (Dorothy) Zamora. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Zamora and Maria Madrid and siblings Leonard and Daniel Zamora.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring nurses and staff at Hospice Alliance House in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
