Obituary for Stanley J. Mesmer

Stanley J. Mesmer, 71 of Wheatland, WI joined his family above on Friday, July 5, 2019.

He was born September 1, 1947, in Waukegan, IL, attended St. Patrick School in Wadsworth, IL and graduated from Warren High School in Gurnee, IL.

He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967-1971. On September 13, 1996, he married the love of his life, Patricia Barnes from Memphis, TN and they settled in Wheatland.

Stanley worked as a firefighter at Great Lakes Naval Base, drove for Hal’s Escort Services, and was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local #150, retiring after many years of service.

He loved playing cards, cooking, golfing and living every day doing what he wanted. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his wife Patricia; three children, Dawn, Melissa, and Christi; his father, Harry A. (Molly) Mesmer Jr; four siblings, Dean (Sue) Mesmer of Grayslake, IL, Mary (Philp) Young of Salem, WI, Thomas (Tammy) Mesmer of Anacortes, WA, and Gerard (Wendy) Mesmer of Salem, WI; he is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, Donna (nee Richardson) (William) Kaphengst in 2009.

Chapel services with full military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI. In lieu of flowers contributions to the American Diabetes Association, are appreciated in his memory.
