Michael James Gallagher, 81 years old of Kenosha, WI passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at his home.

He was born January 7, 1939, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Austin and Winifred (Carney) Gallagher. He grew up in Dearborn, MI, and on October 28, 1966, he married Linda Most. He began working for American Motor Co. in Michigan and in 1966, he transferred to the Kenosha plant. He later worked for Abbott Laboratories for many years before his retirement.

Mike loved the game of golf; he enjoyed the friends that came along with it as well as the time he spent with his family while on the green. He and Linda enjoyed traveling, whether in their travel trailer around the United States, or to a tropical destination. He was self-made handyman and spent a lot of time remodeling his own home and others alike. Mike also liked to work on computers and he especially cherished time with his grandsons. He was also a volunteer guardian for over 20 years. He was on the finance committee and worked on the annual picnic at St. John the Baptist Church in Paris, WI.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda; sons, Christopher (Liz) Gallagher of Waukesha,WI and Sean (Nisa) Gallagher of Albuquerque, NM; siblings, Winifred Gallagher, Gerald Gallagher, and Thomas (Gloria) Gallagher; and two grandsons, Wesley and Ruari.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by siblings, Jack Gallagher, Margaret Gallagher, Eileen Gallagher, and Kathleen Palombi.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Paris, WI with interment in the Parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Feeding America, in his memory.

I've just learned of Mike's passing. We last talked at Menard's in Kenosha. We were both getting supplies for projects.

I worked with Mike at Abbott Laboratories and later caught up with him when we both delivered Meals on Wheels. My wife and I enjoyed Char's restaurant as did Mike and Linda. After Char's closed, Mike and I would enjoy breakfast together along with Jim Greco and Dave Koos.

Our last conversation was at Menard's. We were to have breakfast after the pandemic ended.

I will miss bumping into Mike and our breakfasts together.

Sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. He was a pleasure to golf with and an inspiration to all of us Senile Senior Golfers .

Mike was one of a kind a true gentleman on and off the course. He will be missed by all of us for his laughter and good sense of humor. Rest in peace.

I worked with Mike at Abbott when I was in CMIS in Bldg. AP-14. Mike was just a nice guy, easy going and funny. Also met Mike each year at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church's annual picnic in township of Paris (my brother-in-law's parents are buried there). My condolences to the family.
