Obituary for Mary P. Duffy (Pfiffner)

Mary P. Duffy, 91, of Northbrook, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Kemper House in Worthington, OH.

Born in Stevens Point, WI, on August 31, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Anton Pfiffner and Elizabeth (Collins) DeBot. She was educated at Central State College (University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point).

On August 23, 1958, she married Dr. Emmet James Duffy. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2005.

Mary was initially a teacher and then homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was an active member of the Our Lady of the Brook Church Choir and Women’s Guild, a board member for the Women’s Board of the Northbrook Symphony, and a board member of the Northbrook Associates of the Chicago Art Institute. She was also an avid supporter of Glenbrook North High School, the Wisconsin Badgers and the Chicago Cubs.

Survivors include son Michael (Virginia) Duffy, daughter Elizabeth (Scott) Easton; six grandchildren: Timothy, Virginia, and Brian Duffy, and Jack, Mary, and Collin Easton; and step-brother William (Roseann) DeBot. She is further survived by many caring nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery in Kenosha.
