Obituary for Margaret Ann Nelson

Margaret Ann Nelson, 96 years of age, formerly of St. James, MN, Rice Lake, WI and of recent Kenosha, WI passed away peacefully into the arms of God, the evening of October 19th, 2020, at Hospice House Hospice Alliance, Kenosha, WI.

Margaret was born into the family of the late John S. and Lucille E. (Marks) Smith on September 27th, 1924. She was the second of 5 children. On January 30th, 1946, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Warren C. (Peanut) Nelson in Amboy, MN.

Over her lifetime, Margaret with employed for Dr. O. H. Morgan in Amboy, MN, she was a farmer’s housewife and mother, and was a U.S. Rural Mail carrier for St. James, MN until her retirement in 1989.

Margaret was a true Renaissance woman who enjoyed being with her family, gardening (yellow Roses & Iris were her favorites), baking & cooking for family & friends, entertaining, ceramics, playing cards, doing puzzles, reading, bird watching, sewing of all types (from baby clothing to draperies, upholstery, and working with her embroidery machine).

Margaret is survived by daughter, Gwenn (Dean) Kuhlman of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren, Christopher (Casey Pennington) Kuhlman of Kingwood, TX and Nicholas Kuhlman of Camptonville, CA. She is further survived by her youngest sister, Bonnie Brush of Cheyenne, WY along with other loving family members and friends.

In addition to husband, Warren C. (Peanut) Nelson (2003), Margaret was preceded in death by a son, Michael Nelson (2020); and three siblings, Maxine Van Tassel of Rocklin, CA, Audrey L. Pettibon of Tacoma, WA, and Wayne Smith (as a toddler) of Winnebago, MN.

Margaret’s family would sincerely like to thank the staff at St. Catherine’s Hospital, her doctors and especially Hospice House and the staff of Hospice Alliance. You truly were her Angels in these last days.

As per Margaret’s wishes, a private memorial service and internment will be held. Her celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
