Obituary for Katherine Ione Barlow (Berry)

Katherine I. Barlow, 84, a lifelong resident of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at her residence.

Born on June 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James and Angeline (Nicolazzi) Berry. On June 2, 1955, she married Russell Barlow. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1992.

Katherine was employed as a Nurses Aide at both Kenosha Hospital and St. Catherine’s Hospital, then worked in the laundry center at Brookside Care Center for 20 years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge #286, and she enjoyed Christmas time, bowling, ceramics, cross-stitching, crocheting, playing Rummy 500, and visiting Florida with her two cousins and her aunt every year - for many years. Katherine was a natural and loving caregiver to her patients and to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Russell “Rusty” Barlow, Debbie Barlow, and Jacqueline (Ron) Anderson; five grandchildren, Katherine (Dave) Thompson, Russell (Rebecca) Barlow II, Neal Anderson, Bridgette Garren, and Allison Garren; 2 great-grandchildren, Hailey and Ian; and three siblings, Ellen (Bob) Lulewiez, Suzie (Jim) Bennett, and James (Lucille) Berry. She is further survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Schwer; and her grandson, Adam Barlow.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 2nd, at Proko Funeral Home, from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Green Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158, would be appreciated by the family, as they cared for Katherine so well. Facial coverings and social distancing are required to attend services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
