Katherine I. Barlow, 84, a lifelong resident of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at her residence.

Born on June 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James and Angeline (Nicolazzi) Berry. On June 2, 1955, she married Russell Barlow. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1992.

Katherine was employed as a Nurses Aide at both Kenosha Hospital and St. Catherine’s Hospital, then worked in the laundry center at Brookside Care Center for 20 years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge #286, and she enjoyed Christmas time, bowling, ceramics, cross-stitching, crocheting, playing Rummy 500, and visiting Florida with her two cousins and her aunt every year - for many years. Katherine was a natural and loving caregiver to her patients and to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Russell “Rusty” Barlow, Debbie Barlow, and Jacqueline (Ron) Anderson; five grandchildren, Katherine (Dave) Thompson, Russell (Rebecca) Barlow II, Neal Anderson, Bridgette Garren, and Allison Garren; 2 great-grandchildren, Hailey and Ian; and three siblings, Ellen (Bob) Lulewiez, Suzie (Jim) Bennett, and James (Lucille) Berry. She is further survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Schwer; and her grandson, Adam Barlow.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 2nd, at Proko Funeral Home, from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Green Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158, would be appreciated by the family, as they cared for Katherine so well. Facial coverings and social distancing are required to attend services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Katherine Barlow. I'm so sorry for your loss. I grew up in a neighborhood in the 50's on 20th Avenue. I think the address was 6519 - 20th Avenue. It was a beautiful neighborhood back then and the block had at least 20 children that became my friends. One of my best friends back then was a young girl (about my age then) was "Kitty" Berry, who lived across the street from me. In the Summer time the two of us, plus other kids in the neighborhood... played all morning till our parents had to call us in for lunch...after lunch we would go out and play with the kids on the block until it was supper time and out again we would go and play till dark and our parents would call us in for the night. "Kitty" as I knew her was a wonderful, kind, thoughtful, and a fantastic friend to play with. We must have been about 10 or 11 years old. Years went by and my family moved and I lost track of "Kitty". I remember reading in the Kenosha News that she married a classmate of mine at Mary D. Bradford High School...Russell Barlow. I was saddened to read in the paper this morning that my dear neighborhood pal "Kitty" had passed away. I knew her parents and husband and I'm sure she's happy to be reunited with them in Heaven now. I pray that God's love and peace will help Katherine's adult children, grandchildren, siblings and other members of her this very difficult time. Judy (Bullamore) Nyland.
