Joseph L. "Joe" Eternicka, Jr., 64, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, December 19, 2011, at St. Catherine’s Medical Campus in Pleasant Prairie.
Born in Kenosha on May 19, 1947, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Mary Jane (Lentz) Eternicka, Sr. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1965.
Joe served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from July 6, 1966, until his honorable discharge on April 1, 1970. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
On January 31, 1972, he married Sandra K. Long in Kenosha.
For many years he was employed by MacWhyte Wire Rope Co. as a Millwright and currently for J.I. Case (New Holland) Tractor Mfg.
Joe was a member of the American Legion Post #21, the V.F.W., UAW Local 180, KAVV and the Bass Turds Fishing Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being outdoors.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra of Kenosha; a son, Daniel (Jenna Scuglik) Eternicka of Kenosha; and a nephew, Matthew (Joella) Eternicka of Hales Corners, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis Eternicka.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 26th, at Proko Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m., conducted by the American Legion Post #21. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held on Wednesday, December 28th, at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI, at 11:00 a.m.
