Obituary for Jerome Engelmann

Jerome Engelmann, 92 years old, lifelong resident of Kenosha, WI passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022, at his home.

He was born September 27, 1929, in Kenosha, WI the son of the late Michael and Josephine (Koster) Engelmann. He graduated from Kenosha high School in 1948 and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1953 in VS39 Squadron - Anti-Submarine Unit.

On October 16, 1954, he married Lillian Mae Bell at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Kenosha, WI, she preceded him in death on February 27, 1988.

Jerry was employed at Specialty Brass, Chicago Northwestern Railroad (1949-1957), Coca-Cola (1958-1959), and Sears (1960-1971). He later owned and operated three Open Pantry stores until his retirement in 1992.

Jerry was very active as a musician through the years. He was a past member of the CYO Marching Band and member of the Kenosha Concert Band for 20 years. Jerry was a committed member of the Lions Club of Greater Kenosha since 1974 and served as an usher at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church for over 30 years. He enjoyed 17 years as a Scout Master.

Survivors include his children, Michael Engelmann of Kenosha, WI, Kathryn Engelmann of Kenosha, WI, Jean (Joseph) Landa of Davenport, FL, Lois (Gary) Schmitz of Menomonee Falls, WI and Susan (Gary) Engen of Mukwonago, WI; a sister, Elizabeth Beaumier of Kenosha, WI; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jerry was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Engelmann; granddaughters, Mary Landa and Amber Nicolazzi; siblings, Marion Tolstyga and George Engelmann; and a great-granddaughter, Gia Margaret Brown.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 7117 14th Avenue, Kenosha, WI. Entombment with military honors will follow in All Saints Mausoleum, Pleasant Prairie, WI. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Lions Club of Greater Kenosha ATTN: John Plous, Treasurer, P.O.
