Obituary for Helen E. Turco (Volpentesta)

Helen Turco passed away peacefully at Brookside Care Center in Kenosha on March 24, 2019.

Helen was born in Kenosha on April 10, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Concetta (Molinaro) Volpentesta.

On October 13, 1945 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church she was united in marriage Ernest N. Turco. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1977.

A lifetime resident of Kenosha, Helen was employed by the Simons Company from 1938 to 1945. She was actively involved in the family owned business, My’s Restaurant, from 1946-1978. She was the accountant for the restaurant and provided many signature salads and pies.

In her spare time, Helen enjoyed reading, cooking and baking. She was an avid gardener and grew spices and vegetables from air loom seeds. She loved animals, nature and travel. Helen’s greatest joy was to be surrounded by family and friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Jim) Leischow of Pleasant Prairie, and Darlene (Jay) Leskosek of Brookfield; one grandchild, Jari (Ben) Wolfe; her brother, Louis Volpentesta of Kenosha; and her sister, Rosemary Mastronardi of Kenosha.

Helen was preceded in death by sister, Josephine Turco, and brother, George Volpentesta.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brookside Care Center for the exceptional and loving care they provided.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 27th at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Services and internment will be held privately.
