Helen P. Gustafson, 95, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Froedtert South-Kenosha Medical Center Campus.
Born in Kenosha on August 31, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Stefan and Maria (Dolnik) Lauko. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was educated in local schools.
On October 4, 1947, she married Richard L. Gustafson at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Kenosha; he preceded her in death on September 27, 2000.
Helen was formerly employed at Coopers, Great Lakes Naval Base and her family’s business, Steve’s Bar. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers of the church, and the Slovak Jenodta Society. She used to volunteer at St. Catherine’s Hospital and enjoyed golfing, bowling and swimming. Richard and Helen opened their swimming pools to neighbors and nuns of St. Joseph High School and St. Catherine’s Hospital. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook.
Survivors include her three children, Ron (Sherry) Gustafson, Dennis Gustafson, and Patricia (John) Reed, all of Kenosha; three grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Reed, Michael Reed, and Adam Reed; and two great-granddaughters, Hailey and Hannah Reed.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Lauko; and a sister, Mary Nemila.
Visitation for Helen will be held on Saturday, February 2nd, at Proko Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

We were the "mothers-in-law" of John and Patty - spent many good times together. I always enjoyed my time with Helen. My condolences to the family.

Patty , Ron and Dennis, I Always will have fond and great memories of you Mom , I spent a lot of time with your family throughout the years.
