Obituary for Gordon Truman Ness

Gordon “Gordy” Truman Ness, age 79, passed away Tuesday evening March 5, 2019, at Froedtert South-St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus with his five loving children by his side.

Born in Clearbrook, MN, on January 22, 1940, he was the son of Mervin and Hilma (Lindom) Ness. He moved to Bagley, MN, and graduated from Bagley High School. There he met and married his high school sweetheart, Eva “Vannie” Baker, on December 27, 1958. The couple moved to Kenosha, WI in 1966.

Gordy was an electrician and union carpenter for 30 years. He along with his wife owned and operated Gordy’s Tavern in Pleasant Prairie for 35 years.

Gordy was very social, friendly, fun and hardworking. He was a mentor and friend to many who knew him and to his family he was our rock who had an uncanny sense of humor. Gordy, a diehard Viking fan, enjoyed playing cribbage, horse shoes, pool, darts and fishing but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his five children: Tammy (Dave) Morrison, Lisa Heckel, Todd (Kourtney) Ness, Tim Ness and Linda (Bruno) DeBartolo; his brother, Rich Ness; sister, Karen (Pete) Jordon; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Gordy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arlyn Ness. Just 12 weeks ago the Love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Vannie, passed away and now together they rejoice in Heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9th, at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. All friends are encouraged to come to remember and pay their respects. Private services will be held for family at a later date. Memorials to the National Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
