Obituary for Bessie Mae Jackson (Curtis)

Bessie Mae Jackson, 71 years old, of Kenosha, WI, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Froedtert Hospital, Wauwatosa, WI.

She was born September 1, 1948, in Greenville, Mississippi. She was one of eleven children born to the union of the late A.C. and Mary Ann (Thompson) Curtis.

Bessie was a high school graduate of Colman High in Greenville MS, which she ran track. She had a green thumb and loved tending to her house plants. Her family was very important to her and was her main priority in life.

Bessie leaves to cherish her memory, three sons: Marvin Jackson of Kalamazoo, MI, Allen Jackson of Kenosha, WI, and Tim (Lemeenah) Jackson of Zion, IL; her grandchildren, Jasmyn, Tim Jr, Trypheana, Vonte, Jasmine, Deven, Jerimiah, Tanasiah, and De-Andre; many great grandchildren; three sisters: Barbara Williams, Beverly Brown, Betty Joe Harris (Billie); four brothers, George Curtis (Eula aka Bonnie): Michael (Valarie) Curtis: Darnell Curtis: Douglas Curtis; her former husband, Samuel Jackson and host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by a son, Gabriel Jackson in February 2011, three siblings, Leon Curtis, A.C Curtis Jr: Dennis Curtis.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 noon on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Proko Funeral Home. Funeral services will commence at 12:00 noon on Saturday. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, Kenosha, WI.
