Obituary for James R, Matera

James R. Matera, 57, passed away on December 20th, 2005, at his residence.
Born January 28, 1948, he was the son of Raymond (Squeaky) and Minnie (Morrell) Matera.
Jim graduated from Bradford High School. He then joined the U.S. Army and served as a medic in Viet Nam in 1968 and 1969. He attained the rank of Sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Expert Rifleman Badge, and Good Conduct Medal.
He married Barbara Glinski on November 13, 1971, and later divorced.
Jim boxed in the Golden Gloves as a teenager, enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandson, was interested in many sports and liked to spend time with his pet bird Happy.
He retired from Chrysler in 2005, after 33 years of service.
He is survived by his mother, Minnie Matera; his son, James Matera; daughters, Karri (Joe) Moore, Heather LaPoint and Tiffany Matera; his sister, Kathleen Matrise; four grandsons; a granddaughter; a niece and nephew; his former wife; and a special step-grandmother, Ida Matera.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 27th, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:30 am. Interment will be at 12:00 noon at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove with full Military Honors. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at Proko Funeral Home from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
