Obituary for Michael S. Gustin

Michael S. Gustin, 54, of Bristol, died Tuesday (September 21st, 2004) at his sister's home in Rome, WI.
Born in Racine on Feb. 1, 1950, he was the son of Raymond A. and Ethel W. (Boothe) Gustin. He was educated in Racine.
He moved to Kenosha 20 years ago.
During the Vietnam War he served as a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from May 26, 1967, to March 25, 1970. He received the Vietnamese Service Medal with four battle stars, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal with Bar 1960, National Defense Service medal, Combat Action ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Bronze Palm, Marine Corps Good Conduct medal, and the Navy-Marine Presidential Unit Citation with honorable discharge. He was wounded in action and received two Purple Hearts.
He worked for Johnson Motors in the die cast department in Waukegan, IL, for 30 years, retiring in 2000.
On April 1, 1995, he married Mary Brown in Arizona.
He was a member of the Kenosha Area Vietnam Veterans, Sportsman Club in Paddock Lake, United Auto Workers, color guard for the Vietnam Veterans, and the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder group in North Chicago, IL.
He was a turkey and deer hunter and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife of Kenosha; two daughters, Samantha Gustin of St. Francis, and Staci Abrahamson of Alameda, CA; four brothers, Tom (Mary) of Plover, John (Brenda) of Kenosha, and Mark (Josie) and Fred, both of Phoenix; three sisters, Linda (Norman "Butch") Gehrig of Rome, and Marilyn Gustin and Judy Gustin, both of Racine; and one granddaughter, Laekin Lee.
Proko Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


GUSTIN: Funeral services for Mr. Michael S. Gustin will be held on Saturday, September 25th, at Proko Funeral Home and Crematory, 5111-60th St., at 9:30 AM. Interment will be on Monday at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI at 10:30 AM with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Proko Funeral Home. "SEMPER FI"
